ROY GALLERY
Since its inception in July 2022, Roy Gallery has held more than 30 exhibitions comprising over 90 artists. Located in the Sinsa and Cheongdam area of Seoul, the gallery is situated in hub of Korea’s primary and secondary markets. As a new gallery, we seek innovation in the methods of curation and exhibition whilst respecting the perspectives and thoughts of artists, curators, and collectors alike.
As such, the core values of Roy Gallery are “novelty” and “respect”.
Through “novelty”, we aim to differentiate our projects for the audience rather than following the footprints of established galleries. We engage with new, emerging artists and through collaborative efforts pursue innovative and noteworthy exhibitions. As such, we aim to open our spaces experimental projects that perhaps deviate from commercial and galleristic norms. It is our belief that fresh and innovative projects can positively influence those who engage—enriching our thoughts, emotions, and health.
Through ‘respect’ of the artist’s work and the constructs of its message, we aim to convey through our exhibitions the undiluted essence of artistry. Coupled with our open, friendly attitude and service, we hope to foster a comprehensive and immersive gallery experience. Beyond the commercial scope, it is Roy Gallery’s mission to welcome those who simply desire to learn and engage.
South Korea’s art market is on the
rise—evidenced by a record KRW 1 trillion in sales in 2022. With continued expansion of prominent international galleries into the Seoul region, Korea is poised for further growth in the art industry and community. As such, Roy Gallery aims to add to this current of artistic maturation and hopefully offer diverse projects for both domestic and international audiences.
로이갤러리는 2022년 7월 개관 이후 30여 회의 기획전을 개최하여 90여명의 작가를 소개했습니다.
한국 1, 2차 미술시장의 핵심 지역인 신사동과 청담동에 갤러리가 위치하고 있으며 2개 지점, 4개 전시실을 운영하고 있습니다. 우리는 미술계 각 주체인 작가, 기획자, 컬렉터의 영역과 역량을 존중하면서 저희만의 시각으로 미술을 향유하는 방식의 혁신을 도모하고 있습니다.
저희 로이갤러리가 추구하는 핵심적인 가치는 ‘새로움’과 ‘존중’입니다.
‘새로움’의 측면에서, 저희는 기존 갤러리들의 성취와 맥락을 단순하게 따라가지 않고 차별화된 전시 프로젝트를 관객에게 제공하고자 최선을 다하고 있습니다. 아직 제대로 소개되지 않은 신진 작가들을 적극적으로 발굴하고 장기간의 준비를 거쳐 높은 수준의 전시와 연계 프로그램을 운영합니다. 그리고 실험적인 장르와 작품도 편견없이 담아내려고 노력합니다. 사람들이 갤러리의 공간에 들어왔을 때, 새로움과 신선함이 만드는 감동은 삶을 더 풍부하고 건강하게 만든다고 믿습니다.
‘존중’의 측면에서, 저희는 작가가 구축한 작품 세계와 표현 방식을 최우선으로 존중하며, 전시를 매개로 대중에게 온전하게 그 의미를 전달하고자 합니다. 또한 갤러리에 오시는 모든 내방객들이 어려움을 겪지 않도록 친절한 공간 안내와 전시 설명을 드리고 있습니다. 입구에서 머뭇하는 분들에게는 더 따뜻한 안내로 갤러러의 문턱을 낮추고 있습니다.
우리나라의 미술시장은 2022년 처음으로 매출 1조원을 돌파하는 등 가파른 성장세에 있습니다. 이와 더불어 유수의 해외 갤러리들이 서울에 진출하는 등 한국 미술 커뮤니티의 위상이 점차 높아지고 있습니다. 로이갤러리는 이 흐름에 맞추어 더욱 다양한 전시 프로그램과 신규 프로젝트를 여러분들께 선보이고자 합니다. 저희가 펼치는 전시들을 편하게 즐겨주시고 따뜻한 관심과 격려를 부탁드립니다.
